BROADCAST QC OPERATOR – Full Time Role and Casual Shifts Available

FATS Media Lab are currently seeking a Broadcast QC Operator to fill a position at our newly constructed
facility on Sydney’s lower North Shore, close to transport and amenities.

Candidates must be self-motivated, with superior work ethic and ability to work to strict delivery deadlines,
with minimal direct supervision. Must have the ability to review and understand technical specifications as
they pertain to the creation of Film and TV content.

Position Overview:

The QC Operator is responsible for performing full technical evaluations of video and audio assets,
including identifying and logging film and digital anomalies and other production artifacts created through
mastering, transcoding, dubbing and/or conversion processes for a variety of platforms.

Responsibilities:
• Perform master level quality control of digital and physical assets
• Knowledge of SD/HD, 2K, 4K and HDR specs and technical parameters (Netflix, Amazon, iTunes)
• Setting up file player systems or VTR machines for playback
• Diagnose origin of issues found during QC and discuss potential solutions for fixes
• Familiar with network, platform and broadcast specs and QC assets accordingly
• Work with management, client services and fellow team-members to establish consistency across
reporting
• Personally ensure the technical accuracy and quality of work produced in QC report.
• Resolve technical or deadline related issues with operational departments and client services
towards a timely resolution
• Maintain company quality standards by adhering to checklists and company directives
• Represent and uphold all company policies and procedures and maintain an exceptional level of
service for our customers
• Participate in training, as needed
• Undertake additional department duties as required

Desired Experience:
• 3+ years Quality Control experience in a post-production environment
• Must be able to use and understand vector, waveform and audio scopes and provide
measurements
• Strong knowledge of video based post-production equipment, VTR’s, software & technical
workflows
• Comprehension of broadcast technical standards and monitoring equipment
• Preferable knowledge of content formats, aggregation, and SVOD service requirements

• Willing and able to learn in a team-oriented & highly collaborative environment
• Good organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask
• Customer Service and results oriented with strong attention to detail
• Strong ability to follow direction, work unsupervised, and at a fast pace in a calm and collected
manner
• Ability to troubleshoot and act as a critical thinker
• Willingness to at times work nights, weekends & flexible hours
• Proficiency in Word & Excel with basic math skills
• Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English

MEDIA TECHNICIAN – Full Time Role and Casual Shifts Available

FATS Media Lab are currently seeking a Media Technician to fill a position at our newly constructed facility
on Sydney’s lower North Shore, close to transport and amenities.

Candidates must be self-motivated, with superior work ethic and ability to work to strict delivery deadlines,
with minimal direct supervision. 3+ years’ experience in the industry and able to commence work within a reasonable period.

Position Overview:

The position of Media Technician is multi-faceted, involving different areas of multimedia work: Video,
Audio and Photographic Digitisation and Archiving, and Broadcast Quality Control (QC). The Media
Technician’s role is to contribute and continue to provide a Tier-1 level of quality output to maintain Fats
Media Lab’s reputation and fuel its future growth.

Responsibilities:
• Ensuring very asset is ingested for the optimum result
• Handling all materials with care to prevent damage and ensuring that every asset is tracked
correctly and returned to its original carrier.
• Maintain spreadsheets / archival reports for each asset and update as per policy
• Follow processes accurately and methodically. Escalate any issues to Technical Operations
Manager. Work as part of a team to problem-solve effectively.
• Maintain company policy, procedures & quality standards by adhering to checklists and company
directives
• Work with management, client services and fellow team-members to establish consistency across
reporting
• Participate in training and additional department duties as required

Desired Experience:
• 3+ years of experience in a media environment
• Strong knowledge of video based post-production equipment, VTR’s, software, codecs & technical
workflows
• Comprehension of broadcast technical standards and monitoring equipment
• Adobe Creative Cloud Suite – basic knowledge.

• Willing and able to learn in a team-oriented & highly collaborative environment
• Good organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask
• Customer Service and results oriented with strong attention to detail
• Strong ability to follow direction, work unsupervised, and at a fast pace in a calm and collected
manner
• Willingness to at times work nights, weekends & flexible hours
• Proficiency in Word & Excel with basic math skills
• Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English
