BROADCAST QC OPERATOR

FATS Media Lab are currently seeking a QC Operator to fill a position in our Sydney office.

Candidates must be self-motivated, with superior work ethic and ability to work to strict delivery deadlines, with minimal direct supervision. Must have the ability to review and understand technical specs as they pertain to the creation of Film and TV content.

Position Overview:

The QC Operator is responsible for performing full technical evaluations of video and audio assets, including identifying and logging film and digital anomalies and other production artifacts created through mastering, transcoding, dubbing and/or conversion processes for a variety of platforms.

Responsibilities:
– Perform master level quality control of digital and physical assets
– Knowledge of SD/HD, 2K, 4K specs and technical parameters
– Setting up file player systems or VTR machines for playback
– Diagnose origin of issues found during QC and discuss potential solutions for fixes
– Familiar with network, platform and broadcast specs and QC assets accordingly
– Work with management, client services and fellow team-members to establish consistency across reporting
– Personally ensure the technical accuracy and quality of work produced in QC report.
– Resolve technical or deadline related issues with operational departments and client services towards a timely resolution
– Maintain company quality standards by adhering to checklists and company directives
– Represent and uphold all company policies and procedures and maintain an exceptional level of service for our customers
– Participate in training, as needed
– Undertake additional department duties as required

Desired Skills and Experience:
– 3+ years of Quality Control experience in a post-production environment
– Must be able to use and understand vector, waveform and audio scopes and provide measurements
– Results oriented with strong attention to detail
– Excellent interpersonal and both written and verbal communication skills
– Strong knowledge of film and video based post production workflow and how they apply to industry specs
– Strong ability to follow direction, work unsupervised, at a fast pace in a calm and collected manner
– Ability to troubleshoot and act as a critical thinker

FILM SCANNER OPERATOR

FATS Media Lab are currently seeking a Film Scanner Operator to fill a position in our Sydney office.

Candidates must be self-motivated, with superior work ethic and ability to work to strict delivery deadlines, with minimal direct supervision. Must have A working knowledge of motion picture film scanners and/or telecine film transfers.

Position Overview:

Responsibilities:
– Organizing incoming/outgoing film content (labelling, adding leaders, cleaning, info into database and archiving the new and existing film elements)
– Scanning 35mm/s16mm/s8mm on our Ursa, Shadow and Spirit 2k and 4k scanners.
– Work cooperatively w/ team to QC deliverables assuring in-house QC expectations are being met.
– Remain detail oriented with applications, equipment settings and creating new media. Thorough checking of all work for errors before content is distributed downstream.
– Support the IN/OUT traffic of all data, archive management, storage allocation of projects.
– File management, organization and delivery of data files according to project dependent workflows.

Desired Skills and Experience:
– 5+ years of experience as a Film Scanner Operator
– Extensive knowledge of film formats and scanners

Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:

– The applicant must have experience working with 8mm,16mm and 35mm motion picture film.
– Tasks such as properly winding film onto cores, cleaning, prepping for transfer, and tape splicing leader should almost be second nature.
– Ability to manage the physical aspects of the movement and storage of film and equipment. May include lifting heavy boxes, working behind/below equipment, occasionally crouching/kneeling in confined spaces.
– A working knowledge of motion picture film scanners and/or telecine film transfers and an innate ability to quickly learn new software.
– A strong interest in keeping informed of newer technologies to improve quality and streamline workflow.
– Familiar with data-centric post-production techniques and workflows.
– Working knowledge of both MAC and PC platforms.
– Experience with editing platforms Final Cut Pro or Premiere a plus.
– A basic knowledge of Colour Correction is a plus.
– Previous experience with data management; archiving and restoring projects via LTO tape a plus.
