At FATS Media Lab. we have a wide array of audio playback capabilities, enabling the transfer of tape, vinyl and disc. These formats are deteriorating more and more every day and in need of transfer before it’s too late.
FATS Media Lab. is an industry specialist in the restoration of older degrading tape formats.
Often, the oxide on tape absorbs moisture if not stored in ideal conditions which can encourage the growth of mould. FATS Media Lab. operate a scientific oven that is used to bake and dehydrate moisture from oxide tape. This ensures that the media plays without shedding, causing head clogs.
From reel to reel ¼” Audio to Digital Audio Tape (DAT) and DA88, we have the machines and experience to analyse, restore and transfer your tape to a modern day digital file to suit your needs.
As well as the standard Audio Cassette we also transfer Micro and Mini Cassettes, offer a full range of open reel audio tapes (¼”, ½”, 1” and 2”), and digitise optical and magnetic striped audio from film. Separate 35mm Magnetic audio tape is also transferred in our film transfer facility.
FATS Media Lab. Vinyl playback capabilities can transfer records at 45rpm, 33rpm, and even 78rpm, to preserve musical memories for the next generation and beyond. As with tape, our industry leading ADI-2 Pro analogue to digital converters ensure the highest quality transfer.
Although digitally recorded, optical discs such as CD’s (Compact Discs) and Mini Discs are also vulnerable to damage and aging. FATS Media Lab. can transfer these formats to the highest quality uncompressed wavs for archival and editing, or to compressed formats such as mp3 for online sharing. Our audio transcoding options also include Broadcast WAVs, DTS-HD, and Dolby encoding & decoding.
As with our other media digitisation services we can supply your files on Hard Drive, USB, Disc or as an electronic file transfer. We also have a MAM (Media Asset Management) platform for easy access and management of larger libraries.
